RACE INFO

The seventh and final race in the Vail Recreation District's Vail Trail Running Series, the Dynafit Meadowgold 10K & 5K is presented by Town of Minturn. This exciting route will take place on Meadow Mountain in Minturn, Colorado.
The Meadow Mountain course is remote. Please be prepared and be self-sufficient while racing. There are aid stations available; however we advise that participants bring their own water and fuel for on-course.

Please join us post race at  Vail Mountain Coffee & Tea - Roastery Cafe (23698 US-24, Minturn, CO 81645) for a post-race celebration where we will award podium prizes for both the 10K and 5K, as well as series champions!

COURSE INFO

10K runners will ascend technical singletrack on the beautiful West Grouse Trail with multiple stream crossings and fields of blossoming wildflowers. At the high point and nearly half-way through the 10K race, runners will begin the descent to the finish on double track with open views of Vail Mountain and the Gore Range. 5K runners will enjoy a 1.5 mile double track ascent through mountain meadows and past old homesteads before making a u-turn and quickly descending to the finish line.

ELEVATION GAIN

Approximately 1,450 feet of elevation gain for the 10K and 560' for the 5K.

AID STATIONS

There will be an aid station on course at mile markers 1.0 and 2.0 for 5K runners and mile markers 1.0, 3.9 and 5.5 for 10K runners. In an effort to reduce our environmental impact, we have gone cupless! Please bring your own hydration system to refill with water or Skratch Labs hydration mix. 

PRE-RACE BIB PICKUP INFO

Racers can pick up their race numbers or register ahead of time on Friday, September 13 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Vail Mountain Coffee & Tea - Roastery Cafe located at 23698 US-24, Minturn, CO 81645.

RACE COST

Individual Rates, 10K : $38 preregistration, $45 week-of registration, $55 day-of registration

Individual Rates, 5K: $30 preregistration, $36 week-of registration, $45 day-of registration 

Student Rates (ages 13-17): $25 preregistration, $30 week-of registration, $37 day-of registration

PARKING

Directions to parking from 1-70 West or East Bound:

- Take exit 171 (Minturn/Leadville)

- Turn right (south) on Highway 24 and go 1/2 mile to the Forest Service and follow parking direction signs.

- Parking will be located HERE

Directions to the start:

- Race begins at the Minturn Ranger Station (24747 US Highway 24, Minturn 81645), a short walk from the parking lot.

AWARD CATEGORIES & PRIZES

Awards will be presented at Vail Mountain Coffee & Tea - Roastery Cafe. In addition to race prizes for the MeadowGold, we'll also be handing out series awards to celebrate the end of the season!

10K Awards: Prizes will be awarded to the top three males and females in the following age groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over

5K Awards: Prizes will be awarded to the top three males and females in the following age groups: Juniors 19 and under, Open 20-39, Masters 40-59, Grandmasters 60+

In an effort to ensure a variety of participants can enjoy and benefit from our partnership with Dynafit, participants that routinely podium will receive no more than two of the same 1st place prize. 

All racers will receive a custom designed t-shirt (either cotton or tech material) at the race finish, and all racers are entered into a raffle for great prizes from our sponsors!

VRD's Vail Trail Running Series was recently named by the American Trail Running Association as Race Standards Certified for exceeding measurements in safety, well-marked courses, timely results and awards, environmental responsibility and excellent communication with racers prior to the event.
