PUBLIC NOTICE - CANCELATION OF MUNICIPAL ELECTION

The Town was scheduled to hold its regular Municipal Election on April 7, 2026. This year we were scheduled to seat three council members and the mayor. The window to circulate and return petitions was January 6 through 26, 2026. As of the deadline we had received an equal number of candidates for the seats available and the window for write-in candidates closed on February 2.
Colorado law and Minturn Municipal Code allow the town to cancel an election in cases where there is no contest such as in this case.  On February 4th, the Town Council approved Resolution No. 09-Series 2026, officially canceling the Election.

The Town Clerk is hereby instructed to cancel the regular municipal election scheduled for April 7, 2026.
As a result, the following candidates are hereby declared elected:

  • Eric Gotthelf, Mayor 2-year term
  • Spence Neubauer, Councilmember 4-year term
  • Lynn Feiger, Councilmember 4-year term
  • Katherine Schifani, Councilmember 4-year term

Such terms are scheduled to commence upon such candidates being sworn into office at the regular meeting of the Minturn Town Council on April 15, 2026.

Municipal Elections:

Minturn's Municipal Elections take place in April of even numbered years. To vote, you must be a Minturn resident (for more than 20 days prior to the election), and you must be a registered voter. In-person voting will take place from 7am - 7pm on election day.

If you wish to vote by mail you must apply for an absentee ballot. Applications for absentee ballots can be obtained by stopping by the Town Clerk's office, 302 Pine Street, Minturn. A registered elector of the Town need not meet special criteria to obtain an absentee ballot. Absentee ballots cannot be issued until application has been made. Download the Application for Absentee Ballot.

For questions or more information contact the Town Clerk, Jay Brunvand, at 970-445-2423, or via treasurer [at] minturn.org (email).

Please Note: Due to legislative changes to Colorado’s election laws there is no longer a Permanent Mail-In Voter classification. If you still wish to cast your vote by mail, you must apply for an absentee ballot through the Town of Minturn. All Minturn registered electors who wish to cast your vote by mail must now request and fill out a Mail-in/Early Voting Ballot Request Form if you cannot vote in person on election day.

Interested in running for Town Council?  Candidates must be at least 25 years of age, have been a resident of the Town of Minturn for a minimum of two (2) years (5 years for Mayor), and must maintain residency in the Town through their term of office.  Candidates must also have been a citizen of the United States for a minimum of 7 years.
