Chalk Art Competition CANCELED

We apologize, but this event has been canceled due to lack of participation.  We will try to host again in the future.  Thank you for your understanding.  

Join the Town of Minturn, the Vail Valley Art Guild, and the Minturn Community Fund for a Sidewalk Chart Art Competition on August 6th.  Transform the sidewalks at Town Hall into vibrant colors and works of art!  The contest is open to children and adults (we will have two separate age categories).  You may register as an individual, or a team of up to 3 people.  Teams can also mix adults and children if parents want to be on a team with their children.  

Registration: 

No entry fee.  Pregistration is required.  Entries will be processed in the order they are received.  There will be an adult and a children's category.  (16 & over are considered adult).  To reserve your spot, please email Cindy Krieg at events@minturn.org by Tuesday, August 3rd.  We will have a variety of small, medium and large size squares (approximate sizes noted below.  Large size quantiies are limited).  Children's category will be assigned small squares, unless otherwise requested.  You may register as an individual or a team (max of 3 people per team).  For questions, call or email Cindy Krieg (events@minturn.org, 970-445-2415).  

Chalk can be provided (must note this at time of registration), or artists may choose to bring their own.  Artists should also bring any other supplies they need (knee pads recommended).

Rules:

• Only washable chalk may be in your design. No acrylic paints, liquid pastels, oil -based pastels, hard pastels, etc. will be allowed
• Designs must not exceed beyond their designated square. Your design must fit inside the assigned square
• All artwork must be appropriate for public viewing by all ages; No lewd, graphic violence, gore, nudity
• No political messages, words or symbols intended as advertising may appear in the image or space provided
• Digital photos will be taken.  The Town of Minturn, the Vail Valley Art Guild, and the Minturn Community Fund reserve the right to use photographs for marketing, promotion and publicity purposes
• Organizers have the right to disqualify and/or remove any inappropriate art or writing as they deem necessary
• Registrants may request a Small, Medium or Large square, but specific spaces will be assigned on first come first served basis
• Official judging based on first impression, creativity, originality, skill and use of color. Decision of the judges are final.
