WATER RATE UPDATE
Effective June 1, 2026
What’s Changing?
Your monthly water bill will increase due to a change in the Debt Service Fee (this funds major water infrastructure projects).
- Increase: +$45 per month (per Single Family Equivalent)
- New total Debt Service Fee: $62.37/month
Why Is This Happening?
The Town is moving forward with construction of a new water treatment plant and storage tank—a critical investment to ensure safe, reliable water service for the community.
To fund this project, the Town has taken on a new loan, which requires an increase in the Debt Service Fee.
Why Isn’t the Increase Higher?
You may have heard estimates of an ~$80 increase.
- This year’s increase is lower because:
- Only interest payments are being made initially
- The Town has not yet drawn the full loan amount
- The full impact will occur gradually over the next two years as the project progresses.
Looking Ahead
- The Debt Service Fee will be reviewed annually as part of the budget process
- One existing loan is being paid off, helping reduce overall debt over time
- Future adjustments will reflect the final cost of the project
Additional Update
Properties currently under a construction shut-off will now be charged:
- The standard base water rate, and
- The standard debt service fee
This change aligns with Town Code and will also take effect June 1, 2026 (July bill).

Water & Trash Service
For water and residential trash service, billing setup, questions, or to change your residential trash service, please call the Town Treasurer at (970) 445-2423. The Town currently contracts with Vail Honeywagon for all residential trash and recycling services. Commercial services may contract with any local waste management provider they choose.
The Town manages its own water utility. Water & trash service are billed through an external billing service called MuniBilling. Sewer services are provided (and billed) by Eagle River Water and Sanitation District.
You may set up online payment and/or auto-pay on the MuniBilling customer portal. You will be provided your new account number, the customer portal URL and a unique access code to setup your account.
On the customer portal, you will be able to:
• Make a one-time payment
• Setup autopay
• Select your bill delivery method (mail, email or both)
• Review your bill and payment history
Customer Portal: to create an account, go to the URL and click Create New Account. Fill in New Customer Account - your Account #, unique access Code and Email address, then click Create Account. An email will be sent with a link – Click Here to Confirm Account.
From this link, you will be prompted to Confirm My Account by selecting your username and password.
Payments can be made by credit/debit card or e-check.
