Independence Day Celebration

-

The Town of Minturn is thrilled to announce its highly anticipated annual Independence Day Celebration, set to take place on Thursday, July 2nd. This year's event promises an unforgettable experience for all attendees, filled with live music, food by the Chi Shack, and a wide array of activities for kids.

The centerpiece of the event will be an exceptional lineup of live musical performances that will captivate audiences of all ages. Redheaded Stepchild is an eclectic and wild ride through the more outlaw side of country, rockabilly, dirty blues, and raw rock n roll. The brainchild of long time Coloradoan and native Memphian Tommy Anderson, this band brings the heat with a rotating cast of heavy hitters guaranteed to shake it up with a heavy brew of tasty grooves, soulful vocals, and amazing original songwriting, laced with razor sharp humor, and topped with an undeniable good time vibe.

The Gandy Dancers came about 4 or 5 years ago when virtuoso Banjoist Casey Boyd approached Colorado song writer and performer Kevin Danzig to get together and jam.  This collaboration quickly became a successful duet performing all over the Vail valley.  With the addition of local Bassist/vocalist Peter Fontanese in 2022 the Gandy Dancers Trio was born.  What is so refreshing and fun about this trio is the way that they blend rock and roll with Bluegrass.  Almost as if the two musical genres were designed to crash into one another! Additionally, the trio enthusiastically performs a lot of original material penned by Danzig and Boyd, great songs that are a blast to play and very well received by audiences. An album entitled 8 Tracks was released 18 months ago and new material is due to be released this Summer. The Gandy Dancers Trio is also frequently joined by Pianist Steve Van Beek and Drummer Larry Dutmer for an even bigger sound in larger venues. The Gandy Dancers Quintet is thrilled to be selected as the headliner for this year’s Minturn independence day celebration.

Complimentary children’s activities will include a bounce house, mechanical bull, face painting and a balloon artist.  AND - Enjoy Fairy Hair by Frankie.

Food, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase by The Chi Shack.  You may also bring your own picnic.  BYOB, but please no glass in the park.  Blankets and low camp chairs are welcome.  Dogs are permitted, but please keep your furry friends leashed.  Parking is somewhat limited, so carpooling, public transit, walking and bicycling are encouraged.

The Town of Minturn's Independence Day Celebration will take place at Little Beach Park and Amphitheater on Tuesday, July 2nd, from 6 – 9pm.  Admission is free, and all members of the community are invited to attend and celebrate this special occasion together. Come and join us for an evening filled with fun, laughter, and community spirit.
