NOTIFICATION OF POSTPONEMENT

PUBLIC MEETING ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, MARCH 12th, 2020

Avon-to-Gilman Proposed Electric Transmission Line

Due to public health considerations related to the presence of the COVID-19 coronavirus in our local community, the White River National Forest has decided to postpone the public meeting originally scheduled for Thursday, March 12th, 2020.

This postponement is made in the interest of public safety and is consistent with the Event and Mass Gathering Guidelines released on March 11, 2020 by Eagle County Public Health and Environment. https://www.eaglecounty.us/PublicHealth/News/Event_and_mass_gatherings_guidelines_for_COVID-19/

The White River National Forest will continue to accept public comments on this project throughout the remainder of the scoping period, which closes on Wednesday, April 1st, 2020. Requests for individual telephone meetings with the White River National Forest to discuss this project are welcomed – please call the Eagle-Holy Cross Ranger District at (970) 827-5715 to check scheduling availability.

Due to these unusual circumstances, in order to ensure that the public and all interested parties are afforded sufficient opportunity to submit comments, the White River National Forest has decided to hold a second public comment period upon the completion and public availability of the draft environmental analysis, currently anticipated in late summer 2020.

Thank you for your continuing interest in this project. Your input is an essential part of the environmental analysis process. To submit your comments, and to obtain additional information and the latest updates, please visit the project’s webpage at

https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=57224

Public input will assist the White River National Forest in preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the project. The EA will include an analysis of the potential effects of issuing a Special Use Authorization to construct and operate the transmission line on NFS lands.
